OUR TEAM
Esti Smit
I've always been very active and loved exercise. From a young age, I knew I wanted to work with people in the movement and fitness industry. Biokinetics felt like the perfect fit because it combines the clinical and medical side with fitness and wellness. I’ve always been drawn to a more "root cause" approach, understanding why something is happening rather than only treating the symptoms.

One of the things I love most about my work is seeing patients for the first time, uncovering what may be causing their problem, and creating
a plan moving forward. Being able to give someone hope and help them see a path toward a better quality of life is incredibly rewarding. I’m grateful that I get to serve others in this way, and I see it as a privilege to be in a position where I can positively impact people's lives.

I also love the relationships we build in our field. Sometimes we end up playing a bit of a psychologist role too, and I genuinely enjoy being there for people and supporting them through different seasons of life.
Â
When I’m not at work, I’m at home with my husband and our two boys (1 and 3 years old), who definitely keep me on my toes and keep life busy! You’ll usually find us cooking together, playing outside, riding bikes, wrestling, or doing anything that helps burn some energy. I love living an active lifestyle and I’m passionate about teaching my children — and others — about the many benefits that come with it.
serving others and helping them improve their quality of life, regain confidence in themselves, and realise what they are capable of. I love being able to encourage and support people in a way that can positively impact both their physical and emotional wellbeing.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing people regain confidence in themselves again, whether it’s recovering from an injury, achieving a personal fitness goal, or simply being able to move comfortably and enjoy everyday activities again. I love being part of a journey where individuals begin to realise their own strength, resilience, and potential, often beyond what they initially believed was possible.
Â
I really enjoy working with active individuals and runners because I understand the mindset, discipline, and goals that come with it. However, I truly enjoy working with all kinds of people, regardless of age, fitness level, or background. Whether someone is an athlete striving for performance, recovering from an injury, or just beginning their health and wellness journey, I love being able to support and encourage them along the way. "I chose biokinetics because of my love for movement, exercise, and living an active lifestyle, but mostly because I genuinely love working with people. When I'm not at work, you’ll usually find me running, training, spending time outdoors, or with the people closest to me.
Â
I enjoy building relationships with individuals, getting to know them personally, understanding their challenges and goals, and walking alongside them through their journey. For me, it’s not only about rehabilitation or exercise, it’s about
Anya Bruwer
"My passion for movement, performance, and rehabilitation is what led me to pursue a career in Biokinetics. I believe exercise has the power not only to heal the body, but also to restore confidence, improve quality of life, and help people perform at their best.

My approach is individualised, evidence-based, and focused on long-term results. Rather than only treating symptoms, I aim to identify the root cause of pain, weakness, or movement limitations to create rehabilitation and training programs that are both effective and sustainable.
I have a strong interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation, sports performance, injury prevention, strength and conditioning, and return-to-play rehabilitation. By combining clinical rehabilitation principles with performance-focused training and objective testing, I help clients track progress and move with confidence again.

Outside of practice, I enjoy training, spending time outdoors, and challenging myself through endurance and performance-based events. My passion for health, movement, and helping others is what continues to drive me every day, not only to help clients recover, but to help them become stronger, more confident, and capable in their everyday lives.
